Let me start off by saying hello. Welcome to my very first blog post! It feels so surreal to even say those words. For a long time I've wanted to bring this to fruition and things like life just got the best of my time and energy. But here we are!

The launch of this blog marks a milestone for me. This has been an idea in my mind for years and to finally see my vision become a reality is amazing. Which is why I found it fitting to begin by talking about the importance of setting goals for yourself and sticking to them no matter what limiting thoughts or obstacles you may face.

All my life I've been highly ambitious and always jumped at the opportunity when I wanted to accomplish something. Setting goals was never really intentional, more like an instinct to me. Growing up I was always told that I needed to get good grades and go to college someday so I could have a nice life. It was always drilled in my mind that if I wanted nice things I would have to work for them. It wasn't until I graduated college and no longer had a level of responsibility to get things done that I realized how important goal setting was.

So many people waste their lives and never live up to their own expectations. Frankly, it's usually because they do not allow themselves to have the courage to fail. You only get one life to live and if you don't take chances and go for the things that set your soul on fire, you will live in a never ending cycle of 'what ifs'. Don't let that little voice in your head tell you you can't because there's nothing you cannot do. Allowing the fear of failure to hold you back, means you have already failed.

The first goal I set for myself intentionally was changing my health habits and working on myself physically. This goal is constantly evolving as time passes. It started off with adding workouts to my weekly routine. It later became changing my dietary habits and making it a permanent lifestyle choice. I'm so proud of how far I've come in my physical wellness journey and there's so many things I know I have yet to accomplish.

We all work towards goals everyday whether we do this intentionally or not. They can be short-term or long-term goals. Some goals can be daily or weekly. No goal is too big or too small and they can change as time goes on. Let's talk about different type of goals you can set for yourself.

Financial goals

These can including searching for career opportunities with better compensation or benefits, increasing your monthly savings, learning how to invest, and more. In this day and age it is very easy to find different ways to make money and some of them don't even require you to leave your home. Learning how to invest your money will allow your money to multiple with little to no effort from you at all.

Health Goals

Health goals can include physical, nutritional, and more. You may want to lose a few pounds or gain a few pounds. Or maybe you just want to incorporate healthier foods in to your everyday diet. Sometimes health goals are as simple as making sure you see a PCP, dentist, and any other specialist you may visit annually. Though this may not seem like much, it can be a huge accomplishment for some people. Once upon a time a health goal of mine was to consume the necessary amount of water I needed daily. Now I can't understand how I ever drank soda to quench my thirst. Water is life.

Personal Goals

These goals differ person to person. Some people may be focused on career goals whether that be getting promoted within two years, maintaining their current position, or changing careers completely. While others maybe more interested in house hunting, marriage, and settling down and having a baby. These goals change by the season of that person's life.

No matter the goal, big or small, don't allow the destination to scare you away from the journey. Embrace the road you take during the process of working towards the results you desire. Someone once told me, "you eat an elephant one bite at a time." So even if you set a 5 year goal, remember to take each day one step at a time and don't get overwhelmed by what gets thrown at you along the way. Even if it take you longer than expected, keep going. When you look back and see all you did to get to where you wanted to be, the feeling will be indescribable. You only get one chance to be all that you want to be.

As I said before, this blog was a goal of mine for a long time. I've always wanted an outlet of my own to speak my mind on things I feel passionate about. I began to create this over a year ago. Sometimes I let my limiting thoughts get the best of me and deter me from going for it. There were times when I let my doubts and fear of failure stop me from wanting to bring this to life. But one of my favorite poems reminded me to keep going...

When the fear of falling clouds your mind and makes you think you can't do it, I hope you rely on the possibility of flying. I hope you never second guess the badass that you were meant to be in this life. The world is yours.

In the mean time,

Liv A Little
